Smruti Kurse’s utility box on the east side of Hamilton Avenue next to Mama Mia’s Restaurant

Filed under: Art Outside the Box on 1:07 am

As many of you know, for the last couple of years the Guild has been involved with the City of Campbell’s utility box project: Art Outside the Box. Guild Treasurer Sharon La Bouff has been representing the Guild in helping the City to evaluate and judge the submitted art, and also makes herself available to help prep the utility boxes for painting.

Our very own Guild member and Hospitality Co-chair Smruti Kurse’s art design was selected and the finished product can be seen on the east edge of Mama Mia’s Restaurant on Hamilton Avenue, Campbell, CA!
As you can see by these photos, Smruti’s design is quite involved and you know it must have taken a great deal of time and effort to create it on a utility box. Congratulations Smruti on a job well done, your art is fabulous!

Campbell’s third round of Art Outside the Box is in full swing, with artists beautifying utility boxes around town.

The program was launched in 2015 by the city’s Civic Improvement Commission in partnership with the Campbell Artists’ Guild and has been renewed since with community support.

Painted boxes this year can be seen at West Hamilton Avenue and Darryl Drive, near the entrance of the Winchester light rail station, and at West Campbell Avenue and Fulton Street, according to the city.
