“When a National Geographic photographer asked to review Julie’s images of a recent bike tour through the Canadian Rockies and then told her to . . . get a job with a local newspaper, Julie’s life pivoted…”

Rose Shenson Show 2008

Filed under: Art Shows on July 22, 2008 6:55 am

It is time again to ready your paintings, photos, or carvings for participation in our annual exhibit @ the Rose Shenson Gallery (located on the grounds of the Triton Museum of Art, 1505 Warburton Ave., Santa Clara, CA). We will be displaying our art work during the month of September, so drop off date will be August 30th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Our show will be open Saturdays & Sundays (9-6-08 through 10-4-08).

Reviewing some of the procedures
  1. The charge for one entry is $5.00 and $10.00 for two or more entries.
  2. Most artists enter 5 paintings. They should be for sale, but we do accept NFS entries. (We need a minimum of 60 entries to hold the show.)
  3. They need to be properly matted & framed with wire hangers securely attached to the back.
  4. Very important that you tag your work with its title, your name, phone #, & price on the back.
  5. Each artist is required to serve as monitor from 12:00-4:00 PM (along with another artist) on one of the days that we are open (Saturdays & Sundays only).
  6. We will be holding an Artists’ reception with music & refreshments on one of the Sunday afternoons (9-21-08) during the show. Each Artist is expected to contribute a plated “finger food” (either sweet or savory) for refreshments.
  7. There will be postcard invitations for you to mail to your friends & potential customers.
  8. In the past we have had a drawing for a contributed painting or print; so if we do that again, we will need a donation for that – let me know if you would like to donate a work of art for this.
  9. Only full members who are current with their annual dues may participate in this show as exhibitors.

Associate members are encouraged to attend and help in any way that you wish, including sending invitations to your friends and family.

Midsummer Art Celebration on the Triton Museum grounds

Filed under: Art Shows on March 10, 2008 6:16 pm

An art show will be held on the Triton Museum grounds on June 21. Hours will be 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. It will be called A Midsummer Art Celebration. It is by invitation. And, our club has been invited to participate.

There will no cost to the club. There will be a 30% commission to go to the Triton Museum. So do not forget to build this commission into the price of your art work. The Triton will handle the sales. Anyone who sells something, must provide their social security number for them to cut you a check. If you sell over $600 they will provide you with a 1099 form. There will be food and music.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in participating in the June 21 show as Jeff from University Arts needs the name, address, and phone number so he can set up sites for the various clubs and other artists that are going to be invited.
