Artist Shannon Amidon was our demonstrator on May 23 and what a great presentation she offered. With her colored wax ready at the helm, Shannon showed us a variety of ways to apply, heat and flame to create this ancient art form. Various tools were used from: dental, sculpting and molding, variety of brushes. She also uses a variety of natural, upcycled, and repurposed materials to create her work. DATE: May 23, 2015
TIME: 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

LOCATION: First Congregational Church at 1980 Hamilton Avenue, San Jose

Shannon Amidon will be the demonstrator.

Shannon creates mixed media artwork primarily concentrating on the ancient medium of encaustic painting. She incorporates natural, upcycled and repurposed materials, breathing new life into materials that would otherwise be destined for a landfill. Using environmentally safe and sustainable practices is very important to her. In addition to upcycling discarded objects and materials, she also makes her own paints using natural earth pigments and binders.
