Jaya King will demonstrate creative ways to tell a story with her art at the September 22nd , 2012 meeting

Filed under: Meetings on September 17, 2012 7:40 am

DEMONSTRATOR: Jaya King will be back with us again demonstrating her creative use of bright colored acrylics, unusual found objects and her amazing imagination to tell a story. She is a talented and fun teacher who inspires her students to bring their own stories to life. Personally, Jaya’s art represents a range of emotion from the purely whimsical to images that can be moody and haunting.

Jaya has been painting professionally for 10 years, showing her art throughout the Bay Area. At age 24 she was invited to do a solo show at Stanford University and her art is in the permanent collection at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara. She is now represented by Nieto Fine Arts in San Francisco

Janice Faulstich will demonstrate creating watercolor travel journals at the August 25th, 2012 meeting

Filed under: Meetings on August 20, 2012 7:45 am

Our August guest will be Janice Faulstich discussing tools, techniques and her experiences in creating watercolor travel journals. She’ll have samples of her journals to share with us. I’ve seen her journals and if you travel, or even if you’d just like to record moments in your life, this is a meeting you won’t want to miss.

Janice graduated from San Jose State with a BS in Interior Design and had a class in watercolor. After she stopped working, she went back to watercolor. Subsequently, she’s taken painting and drawing classes, as well as a number of workshops through the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society (SCVWS). She’s also very active with the SCVWS plein air painting group.

Five years ago she began making travel journals. She says “The books have added so much to my memories of wonderful vacations and I’m very excited to be able to share them with you, and it is to be hoped, encourage you to make journals of your own travels.”

You can see a sample of her work at http://janiceh2ocolor.blogspot.com/.
