Northern California artist, Kris Rogers, loves painting with vibrant colors in a realistic style. Her inspiration comes from indigenous animals, wildlife, and nature. Much of the influence for her paintings are derived from the family lodge near Yosemite National Park and the visiting wildlife. She strives to capture the animal’s character in those fleeting moments when their souls collide. She will also work from photographs she has taken depicting local culture and people from her trips abroad.
With an early love of photography, her career path turned to Radiologic Technology. Art was always a part of her in many forms, from shooting x-rays, sewing, marquetry, intarsia, custom machine embroidery, furniture painting/ restoration and plaster craft painting. After all her son’s were out of the house, her accomplished artist cousin surprised her with a pastel lesson. She took to it, like a duck to water. She went on to create many more pastel paintings, and began exploring watercolor, and later acrylics. Being mostly self taught, she investigates the nuances of several mediums daily, frequently discovering new painting techniques. Creating brings her joy and she typically works on more than one painting at a time.
Member of Campbell Artist’s Guild, Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society, Los Gatos Art Assoc., Southbay Watercolor Journaling, Coastal Art League, Pacific Art League, Yosemite Sierra Artists, and Triton Museum of Art. Her awards include an exhibition at the Triton Museum of Santa Clara, numerous Campbell Artist’s Guild, Los Gatos Art Association, and Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society exhibitions and ribbons.
